LY Paeonia Rockii Nursery was founded by Yang Chengwei—an inspiring visionary with unwavering passion for Rockii peony breeding. Born with limited left leg mobility, Yang never let this lifelong challenge dim his love for peony breeding: though the nursery base sits high in the mountains, he overcame constant movement difficulties there, stuck to breeding for nearly 50 years, and led the development of over 160 new peony varieties.

The Rockii tree peony breeding process is rigorous, with each new variety taking at least 7 years to develop—some even over 17 years. To tackle challenges along the way, Yang mastered knowledge spanning horticulture, breeding, cultivation, flower arranging, pot culture, and landscaping; despite the hardships, he stayed passionate about Rockii tree peonies and life, even teaching himself calligraphy, painting, and piano. Kind by nature, he was always ready to share his expertise with those seeking advice, and often reminded us that Rockii tree peonies are a gift from God—our role is simply to share them with the world.
