Do you know how to tell your tree peonies will bloom next spring?

Do you know if your tree peonies will bloom next spring? We’ll show you how today.

Tree peonies bloom in the spring, no matter when they’re planted. How long they live depends on things like the seedling, where they’re grown, temperature, and humidity. If you care for the tree peony seedlings, how can you tell if they’ll bloom next spring?

It’s quite simple: look at the leaves, and the buds, and thirdly feel them with your hands.

“Take a look at the leaves”, in summer, see if the tree peony leaves are oily green, fat and full. This has a lot to do with next year’s flowering. “Second look at the buds”, see if the flower buds are full.

“The third thing to do is to feel the belly in the centre of the buds, and if it is hard and full, it will likely bloom next year. Generally speaking, if the “belly” of the bud is larger than 0.5 centimetres, the flower will bloom. However, if the buds are dry, elongated, and soft when you pinch them, they may just be mixed buds with axillary buds, with only leaves and no flowers.
